Simple Business Workshops

Posted by chris at May 22, 2006

Ladies and Gentlemen. Your attention please.

Here at Sproutit, we decided that we could do more than offer web apps to help teams and small businesses, we can also teach what we have learned. So, that is what we are doing with the brand new, straight out of the box, new car smell, Simple Business Workshops. So, far we have nailed down venues for San Diego and Chicago and, we are busily making calls to finalize DC, Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston, Toronto, and London.

Derek presents with JadedPixel in Ontario

Posted by charles at March 18, 2006

Derek Featherstone is one of the most knowledgeable CSS/XHTML and web accessibility experts I know. He helped us fix a nasty bug with our CSS when Mailroom first launched and he’s going to be doing some exciting accessibility-related things with us later on down the line.

JadedPixel is the company that is building what looks to be a very usable web-store called Shopify. Just the sort of hosted, easy-to-use, web-based business software we love around here.

Derek will be speaking at the next OGRE meeting, sponsored by JadedPixel, in Ontario. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend you check it out.

No-IT Technology

There is something I’ve been wanting to get off my chest for a while. In fact, its a big part of why I personally wanted to do Sproutit. I’ve never been able to express it well enough before, but after some feedback I’ve had since DEMO, I think I finally have the words. So here goes…

Here is the simple fact: business software costs too much for small business. And there is nothing the big software companies can do to fix it. They can’t drop the enough features, they can’t reduce the price enough. That’s because it’s not so much the cost of the software that is the problem—its the cost of maintenance.
